I had made many trips to Buttermere in the Lake District over the years without finding what I thought was a good composition. However on this occasion I couldn’t believe my luck. The boat was actually there, and with Haystacks reflected in the still water and the whole framed by the fresh spring leaves – I knew this lakeland scene was it.
